How to ship with USPS without a printer
You don't need a printer to ship with USPS. Buy the label online, then show its QR code on your phone at the Post Office counter. The clerk scans it and prints the label for you.
How it works
- On Get a Quote, enter the ZIP codes and the box's weight and size, and pick a USPS option (Ground Advantage, Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express).
- Add the addresses, confirm the price and pay.
- Your USPS label comes with a QR code, on screen and in your label email. Keep the email; the QR code is there whenever you need it.
- Take the box to the Post Office, show the QR code at the counter, and the clerk prints the label and puts it on.
Good to know: USPS's QR code labels (USPS Label Broker) work at most Post Offices. If your label doesn't show a QR code, print it at home, at a library or at a print shop instead.
What about UPS and FedEx?
On ShipGopher, the no-printer QR code is for USPS labels only. UPS and FedEx labels need to be printed and taped to the box before drop-off. If you have no printer, USPS is the simplest choice, and for light packages it's often the cheapest too (see the comparison).
What it costs
The same as any USPS label on ShipGopher: USPS's discounted postage plus one service fee of $1 + 5% of that discounted postage. The QR code costs nothing extra, and the Post Office doesn't charge to print it. See pricing.
Tips
- Pack and close the box before you go, and weigh and measure it so the label matches.
- Turn your screen brightness up so the counter scanner reads the code quickly.
- Changed your mind? The cancel link in the same email refunds an unused label in full within 28 days.
