ShipGopher vs FedEx Office
At the FedEx Office counter you pay FedEx's retail rates. The same FedEx service bought online costs much less, and FedEx Office takes prepaid packages with no fee.
| Example | FedEx retail | ShipGopher | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| FedEx Home Delivery, 5 lb box, Phoenix to Chicago | $61.44 | $25.41 | $36.03 (59%) |
From our October 2026 price check of FedEx's published retail rates (the same example as on Pricing). ShipGopher's price includes the $1 + 5% service fee. FedEx says there are no fees for dropping off a package (FedEx drop-off, checked October 25, 2026).
When FedEx Office is the better choice
- You need it packed. FedEx Office sells boxes and packing services.
- You have no printer. ShipGopher's FedEx labels need printing. (For USPS, ShipGopher gives you a QR code instead.)
When ShipGopher is the better choice
- Price. Online FedEx rates are often well under the retail price, as in the example above.
- You can still use the store. Print the label, tape it to the box and drop it off at FedEx Office or any FedEx drop-off location.
- You can compare first. For many boxes USPS or UPS is cheaper still, and ShipGopher shows all three.
